Loki – Have you had any luck fighting this ex post facto punishment? You signed a plea deal to not be on the registry. How can they put you on years after when your plea deal should be honored? I know, because the registry is supposedly not punishment. I am holding out for tow developments to hopefully abolish the registry, One is the Vigil on the…[Read more]

I am not very hopeful with this either, but not doing anything is not an option. All laws that are passed always mention that the registry is not punishment. But it is, no matter how you look at it. All lawsuits are shot down, so that is frustrating. I wish you luck with your situation.

  • Loki – I am not sure why my responses don’t seem to come through? We are in a similar situation here in California. Never been posted online, new law in 2021, and now my boyfriend is listed publicly for the first time. How can that be in the interest of public safety since they did not seem to care the lat 10 years. What a bunch of BS.

I am so sorry. We are in a similar position here in CA. My boyfriend was never publicly listed, but with the new law that started in 2021, he is now on Megans Law for the first time ever, and it has turned our world upside down. We are trying to fight this with an attorney, especially since his offense has been expunged even. What a bunch of BS…[Read more]

    • I absolutely understand exactly how you guys feel. That is exactly what has happened to me. I am also working with an attorney. But I honestly don’t have a strong hope. I feel like no matter what, no one cares. I’m just a piece of shit. And deserve whatever I get. But I will keep fighting till the day I die. It is unfair and I feel punitive.

Hi there Loki. It sounds like you might be in California? Are you referring to the new law that became effective in 2021? The registry is brutal and I hope it will be abolished one of these days as it is so unconstitutional.

  • Wow, I wished you had that in writing how the Sheriff mentioned that people forced to register don’t know the limitations that are put onto their lives. Yet another proof that the registry is punishment and nothing else. Smith vs Doe keeps saying it is merely administrative, but clearly even law enforcement knows that that’s not true one bit. Hope…[Read more]

  • I have heard conflicting information. It used to be that your passport would get revoked upon return to the US, but recently I saw posts on ACSOL that someone was turned around at the destination airport. Here is the story that was posted: Source: ACSOL

A registrant and his wife were removed by from a plane they had already boarded in Los…[Read more]

  • Unfortunately, we only hear about those who re-offend and paint a bad picture on other registrants. If you told every story about those who do NOT re-offend, the newspapers would be filled front to back. Just like it always is a huge deal when a plane crashes, but no mention of the millions that don’t crash.

  • This case should also serve as grounds to not punish someone based on a static risk assessment years after being offense free.
