  • In October of 20230, I traveled to Rome, Italy from Denver, Colorado via Munich, Germany.  I am a tier 2 registrant.  I have the stamp on my passport.  I gave a 30-day notice to travel to my SORN officer.  In Mun […]

I just got back from Italy. I had no issues. I went from Denver to Munich Germany and on to Rome. At the Munich customs going in and out they scanned my passport, read my file and called their supervisor. They also asked me for my airline tickets. It took about 10 extra minutes and they sent me on my way. As usual in Denver at US customs, I…[Read more]

I would really like some advice.  11 years ago, i was convicted of using a communications device to solicit a minor between the ages of 15-18.  I was arrested and held in jail under a no-bond condition. With no p […]

    • Loki – Have you had any luck fighting this ex post facto punishment? You signed a plea deal to not be on the registry. How can they put you on years after when your plea deal should be honored? I know, because the registry is supposedly not punishment. I am holding out for tow developments to hopefully abolish the registry, One is the Vigil on the steps of the Supreme Court in March of 2023 to overturn Smith vs Doe. You should read up on that. The second one is the ALI Model Penal Code. They approved changes to the law, meaning that if a registry has to exist, it should not be public, and only certain offenses should be registrable. It is a huge step in the right direction but has to be adopted by each State’s legislature. I keep researching to learn as much as possible. It is such a mess and nothing but punishment.

Hi guys. I am new here. I am newly placed on the registry. Although my charge is over a decade old. Would love to interact with you guys. And gain some advice and insight. Please feel free to message me or reply! Look forward to hearing from all of you

    • Hi there Loki. It sounds like you might be in California? Are you referring to the new law that became effective in 2021? The registry is brutal and I hope it will be abolished one of these days as it is so unconstitutional.

    • I am in Virginia actually and it does absolutely seem unconstitutional. Everything I built is one person from finding out and it all starting to fall apart.

      • I am so sorry. We are in a similar position here in CA. My boyfriend was never publicly listed, but with the new law that started in 2021, he is now on Megans Law for the first time ever, and it has turned our world upside down. We are trying to fight this with an attorney, especially since his offense has been expunged even. What a bunch of BS…[Read more]

        • I absolutely understand exactly how you guys feel. That is exactly what has happened to me. I am also working with an attorney. But I honestly don’t have a strong hope. I feel like no matter what, no one cares. I’m just a piece of shit. And deserve whatever I get. But I will keep fighting till the day I die. It is unfair and I feel punitive.

          • I am not very hopeful with this either, but not doing anything is not an option. All laws that are passed always mention that the registry is not punishment. But it is, no matter how you look at it. All lawsuits are shot down, so that is frustrating. I wish you luck with your situation.

  • I just got my new passport and it does not have the identifier. I tried calling the passport office to no avail. I would like to know, if anyone can tell me, what i need to do to get this resolved? Do I reapply […]

    • hey matt- you have to specifically ask for the identifier on a passport. if you renew a passport and don’t send a letter requesting the identifier then you need to renew it again and submit the letter. if you use a passport they will notify you that it will be revoked and that you need to renew it them. its just a question of how pro-active you want to be. a quick google search will bring up the wording for the letter and instructions plus a website that generates a automatic response. good luck. I hope this helps.

    • I had the same thing happen to me. I did, however send a letter with the statement that I was an offender and covered under the Megan Law. and they still sent me a passport without the identifier. I was lucky to actually call and talk to a real person. They told me where I need to send a letter to where I included both mt email and phone number. They called me within 2 weeks. Told me which form to fill out and to send the passport. To them with all that information. I received mt passport WITH the identifier (one page 1) within another couple weeks. Hope this helps.

      • Can you share tha information please? Where do you send the letter? How do you format it?

        Thanks

    • U.S Dept of State New Orleans Passport Center. Call 504-412-7311 and leave a message explaining your situation. I wrote a letter to them and gave them a scanned copy of my passport. They called me back telling me to fill out form 5504 the best you can. You will need to send another photo of yourself again. I also sent them my passport and a separate letter with the Megan’s law statement letter. I would call first because your passport number has a code that tells them where it was processed. So yours could go to a different location than mine.
      Good luck!

You’re supposed to have the marker but its still possible to travel without it. I have been out of the country twice and am yet to get the marker. They’re supposed to send you a letter, but I’m yet to receive mine. The last time I left the country before this time was about two years ago and not once did they send a letter. I even called to ask about it (did not give any personal information) and was told not to worry about it if I hadn’t received a letter yet. Considering I already had a ticket and didn’t have enough time to get a new one with the marker, I used my unmarked one and had zero issues.

Getting the itch to travel. I am looking at heading to Spain. Experiences? Maybe stay there. Any help would be appreciated….

    • Spain seems lovely this time of year. Germany is still a little cold but the sun is starting to feel warm again (sometimes) and I’m seeing birds coming back.

    • If you are heading by boat and happen to be passing Florida, I’d be happy to lend a hand in exchange for passage, and knowledge. I’m willing and able to learn, but I’ve barely sat on a kayak, let alone a sailing boat.
