how do i resolve this?
should i just renew my passport and it will automatically be removed?

I would love to know that as well!!
I was recently removed from the registry and sent my passport back in hopes that the identifier would be removed. It came back with no identifier. So, yes it should be removed after you have been removed from the registry.
My passport got damaged in the washing machine so I sent it back to be replaced and there was no identifier.
