FYI, I was not required to register in the state I moved to in 2014.
I applied for passport and in 2 days I was notified by the state that I must register now. They were notified by the Dept. of State that I was a covered offender and should be registered as an out of state offender. Now begins a new removal process.
I’m a little bit worried about that as well. I moved from Kansas to Texas about a year and a half ago and do not have to register in Texas. I traveled to Hong Kong last year and no problems at all, I was briefly held in Hong Kong and just asked the normal questions, where I will stay, how long, what will I do there. When I returned the officer asked if I have to register in Texas and I told him no and that was the end of it.
I just returned from a visit overseas last week and this time they asked me twice how long I’ve been at my current address and I thought afterwards that he is probably wondering why I don’t have to register.
I kept all of the papers and correspondence with the sheriffs department in the county I live in in Texas just in case.
Did the state you’re currently in make a big deal about it you having to be removed from the registry again?
