I just got back from Italy. I had no issues. I went from Denver to Munich, Germany and on to Rome. At the Munich customs going in and out they scanned my passport, read my file and called their supervisor. They also asked me for my airline tickets. It took about 10 extra minutes and they sent me on my way. As usual in Denver at US customs, I was sent to secondary screening for my bag to be scanned and sent on my way. I am heading back to Spain in Feb, going thru Minneapolis to Amesterdam to Valencia. I will let you all know how it going when I get back. I had no issues in Italy. I have the stamp on my passport and I gave my 21 day notice to SORN. Happy Travels
Any issues with Spain? Didn’t know if you HAD to go through another country to get there or if you could go directly from the US?
Travis, thanks for posting this. I am actually working on moving to Italy, pursuing citizenship for my wife and sons through her great-grandfather. I have been curious how they may view my status. I am heading over in January 2025 with my oldest son.
Did you have to interact with any police officials while in Italy? Or was the extent of your status being a concern only dealt with while entering the country? I would love to discuss your trip, if you have some time to do so.
I flew into Rome, FCO airport in October ’23. Gave my 21 day notice, so Italy would have gotten the green notice. No issues at all entering in Rome, didn’t even get one question. Just walked through the gates and got a visa stamp. I do have the RSO stamp on my passport. Same when I traveled to Amsterdam in February, the only question I got was, what is the purpose of your trip?
