Sorry for the extremely late reply but yes the first 2 times I went I had to give my travel plans prior to travel. This last time I did not as I don’t have to register any more. Just have everything ready in case you are questioned such as your plans for the time you are there, where you will stay and your return ticket.

I do not have personal experience with going to Malaysia, Thailand or Vietnam while on the registry. They must have changed things. I went June 8th to Hong Kong. It was my third visit. The first 2 times I just went right through immigration. This time I was questioned for awhile then allowed to enter.

I was recently removed from the registry and sent my passport back in hopes that the identifier would be removed. It came back with no identifier. So, yes it should be removed after you have been removed from the registry.
My passport got damaged in the washing machine so I sent it back to be replaced and there was no identifier.
